I met Katelin and Justin for the first time a few months ago when I shot their family pictures. These two are a super sweet and mellow couple. My 10 month old and I had been down with the stomach flu when I got a message from her asking me to do her wedding pictures - two days later, on valentines day.
Of course, I'm a little flabbergasted, being as though I could hardly eat at the time let alone take pictures. Trusting my faith and knowing my body, I told her with as much confidence, "Absolutely!" but I warned her about the slight chance of my sickness continuing. Thankfully, I was much better the day of and had enough energy to be excited for the evening to come.
Now, I'm not a big fan of valentines day. My elementary days ruined that for me, but that is another story for some other day. So to get to use the dreaded valentines day as a wedding shoot?! Heck, yeah.
I didn't know what to expect when showing up to this cute little church in the Shenandoah Valley. Katelin said it was supposed to be very simple and casual but I wasn't sure if our definitions were quite the same. Let me tell you all, this was a very casual wedding. And I find that beautifully amazing. There was something so elegant and pure about this wedding without all the "bells and whistles" that are apparently necessary for two to become one.
Humbling. That is the best word to describe this event. It just reminds you what a wedding is truly about, marrying your person. There were many laughs shared during the ceremony - mostly because the lack of rehearsal - which made the family so fun to be around. I think it's safe to say, there was no better way to start out this years wedding season.
Congratulations you two, I send much love and blessings your way! <3
