The "Why?"
Ever since I can remember, I've always had some sort of association with art. From drawing to painting to borrowing my Mom's DSLR on a flood day to photograph the damage. I was always the one that when someone questioned my family "what gift should we get her?" the response was always "Oh, anything artistic! Sketch books, color pencils, etc." As I got older, my preferred medium changed multiple times flowing from one to the other, trying to become an expert in each specific art. No matter what, my hands always find their way back to a camera: DSLR, point and shoot, Polaroid, film, etc.
I love doing portrait photography in the gorgeous natural lighting provided by the outdoors. Hiking, fishing, sitting on the porch with a warm cup of coffee. You think of it, I'm in. We'll do what you enjoy while I do what makes me happy, capturing forever memories!
The Name
The name Little North Mountain is very close to my heart. Since I was a little girl, I've been living right below the beautiful Little North Mountain of Virginia. Trails have been trekked, wood has been cut, and wild springs and streams have been splashed in (okay and maybe drank out of too, like straight from the ground - don't judge). Its beautiful in every season and no matter where I go, that name will follow so I always remember my roots.
About Nicole
I'm a mom of 4... 5 and under. My house is always crazy and a mess, so your kids will not bother me - I promise! I'm accustomed to kids who don't want to be doing photos (lets include husbands in that too, mine doesn't like photos unless there's a trophy deer involved *sigh..*).
So, no need to stress there! I've been doing this business for approximately 6 years now, mostly specializing in couples and family photography. I love doing senior photos too! I'll probably have my youngest baby -pictured in the gallery - with me at our session, so be warned! (And by "warned" I mean of their cuteness, obviously)
I have done weddings in recent years, but being a mom, it's hard to leave my kids for that long of a time - especially on the weekends. So for now, I'm only accepting short weddings or elopements!
I grew up doing dog shows with my mom, so your dogs will not bother me either! If you hear me make weird noises when they are apart of your photos, its to perk their ears and look pretty! Just a weird trick we did at the shows.
I'm terrible with names - ask my kids... they'll tell you. So, I'll probably forget yours. Mom brain at its finest.
